Common Tailorbird-building nest with ‘special tiny tool’ (15.1.14)

Hi,

On my first day (13.1.14) I saw the pair building their new nest, I just watched with my bins. I have no intention to take any photos or videos.
This afternoon (14.1.14) I saw the pair taking something which is not clear enough for me to identify what ‘special green tiny tool’ they are using to poke the edge of the leaf. I knew they used their bill to poke the edge of the leaf, and then use the sap to ‘sew’ the leaves together.

Watching through the scope I saw the ‘special green tool’ and decided to take a short video (1min 30sec) to share with you all. This video is taking me almost 2 hours to download. I’ve recorded 2 videos with more than 5 minutes given a better view to watch step by step how they took out the ‘tiny green wire’ to poke through the leaf. After finished ‘sewing’ she will take the tiny wire out and move on to the next one. These ‘special sewing’ has been repeated many times.
Note: If you watch carefully on the video, you will see at least three ‘tiny green wires’ around their new nest. Towards the end of the video, she took out the wire and replace back on the top of the leaf.

Attach few images for your viewing pleasure.

Regards,
Connie
